Dear Strand Fan,

This week we had three events, with the last tonight.   Friday Night Frights will return at 7:30pm tonight with the showing of the 1960 Roger Corman film THE LAST WOMAN ON EARTH.

The film is about three people vacationing in Puerto Rico that go for a swim.   When they finish they realize something has killed everyone on the island.   The story goes from there!    Roger Corman is known as the “Pope of Pop Cinema.”

A number of noted filmmakers (including directors, producers, writers, and cinematographers) have worked with Corman, usually early in their careers, including Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, Polly Platt, Peter Bogdanovich, Declan O’Brien, Armondo Linus Acosta, Paul Bartel, Jonathan Demme, Donald G. Jackson, Gale Anne Hurd, Carl Colpaert, Joe Dante, James Cameron.  Many have said that Corman’s influence taught them some of the ins and outs of filmmaking.

This week we hosted three other events.   On Tuesday the 38th Infantry Division Band of the Indiana National Guard performed at the Strand.   The concert was fantastic.  Thank you to the Guard for including us in their summer tour.

Wednesday night we hosted a private event.   The evening was magical and we were thrilled to be able to help make memories of a lifetime.

Thursday brought the Excel Center graduates to the Strand.   We hosted the 2022 Graduation Ceremony.    As always the evening was full of joy and hope, but also highlighted the struggles and angst that some feel.    We are always honored to host this event.

Many people step up to help the Strand.   Kurtis Britts, one of our loyal Friday Night Frights patrons proved once again what the giving spirit is all about.   He helped the Strand (without being asked!) make sure our FNF series runs smoothly.   Thank you Kurtis!

Times are challenging.   We have hit roadblocks.   Fortunately we seem to cross every hurdle that is thrown at us.    Thank you for your encouragement and support!   See you at the Strand.
