Newsletter – 03/04/2022

Dear Strand Fan,

We are up and running!   We started on February 15 and have already welcomed 713 patrons to the theater.   It feels good.

The Strand is booking for the first time since August 2019 (we book the season by August of the previous year).   Wow, are we out of practice.    The booking process started last week with the confidence we will not have any mandates that will cause us to pause.  So far we have 38 events booked.  Not too bad for one week of work.

The 2022 season will include all that you expect from your theater.    We will publish things as they become available.   On the side bar of this email events through April are listed.   This will expand, but you can start planning now for those things confirmed.

It has been a long 2 years.   We look forward to getting back to what we are meant to do.    If you are interested in volunteering, please reply to this email or call us at 317-395-3318.    We will host a volunteer fair soon.   The Strand is an all volunteer organization.   Our success depends upon our community as a whole, both as patrons and volunteers.

We are wrapping up our Covid projects.   This week we started with a rare Sunday work session.   Our volunteers spent 6 hours accomplishing various projects.  The most important was to fix the condensate line for our north auditorium furnaces.    Job accomplished!    We also built a few things and worked on getting the stage ready for performances.   Thank you to all the volunteers who helped.

This Saturday March 5, 2022 we will have a work session from 9am – noon.    We will finish some painting and remove our scaffolding.   There are odds and ends that need to be completed.   Slowly but surely (step by step…).

Our friends at the Shelby Art Gallery Association need some help.  They are highlighting local artists.  They are looking for information on watercolor painter TOM QUERY.   If you know any information about Mr. Query, please reply to this email or call 317-395-3318.   We will get them the information.   Below is a painting by Tom Query.

The weather is changing and our outside projects, including the marquee LED upgrade, are being prepared.    The best part is the Strand is OPEN and once again providing a venue where the arts can flourish.   Thank you for your support.   See you at the Strand!
