Our Board of Directors
I started in the electronics field and in 1975 when I was working for a local TV shop. In 1995, I opened up my own shop and ran it until 2017. Now, I’m working for working for a two way radio-camera door access and fire house alerting company as a master fire house alerting and engineering technician and two way radio technician. I have also run sound for live bands for over 40 years and design audio systems for churches. I designed the audio system for The Strand Theater. I also run sound for Flat Rock Christian Church.
Pamela J. Meeke Dearinger, a resident of Shelbyville, IN for 42 years. Two adult children; Graduate of Ball State University; Graduate of Leadership of Shelby County; Former Bears of Blue River Festival Board of Director; Former Board Member and contestant of Dancing with the Shelby County Stars; Library Foundation Board Member and a member of Shelby County Recycling Citizens Advisory Committee.
David M. Finkel – founder
David M. Finkel is a founder of the Strand Theatre. He holds a degree in theater design from Indiana University. David spent his career in automotive parts distribution and is owner/principal of 251 Consulting. The Strand as a performing arts center was born in the alley between David and Steve Frazee’s homes on Shelby Street. After much discussion the Strand came to fruition in October 2006. David plays trumpet in the Columbus City Band and continues his love of theater pipe organs, historic preservation, flying, and classic cars.
Elizabeth has been volunteering at the Strand ever since she was little. She graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor’s of Science in geology. Although she no longer lives in Shelbyville, Elizabeth is still active at the Strand by managing the Strand’s social media accounts, maintaining our website, and developing graphic content for the Strand. While at Indiana University, Elizabeth was a 4-year member of the Marching Hundred and Big Red Basketball Band. Nowadays, she spends her free time with family and friends, exploring Monroe county, and playing with her two miniature schnauzers, Edie and Louie.
Steve Frazee – founder
I am a lifelong Shelby County Resident. I graduated from Shelbyville High School and attended Indiana University. I spent most of my professional career in Information Technology and factory supervision in a large number of areas.
I am a musician and artist. I paint mainly landscapes with oil. I have dabbled in other art forms but have always returned to my brushes. I play trumpet in my band, The Strand Band. I also play guitar at home just for me.
In 2006, I became a founding member and director of the Strand Theatre of Shelbyville, Inc. Although this may have a 2006 date, the planning started much sooner with nightly conversations in the alley between my home and David’s!
In 2019, during the pandemic, I decided to try a new hobby. I purchased a CNC wood mill that allows me to do creative things utilizing my IT knowledge and my love for art. I created the wood planks for the Strand fundraiser selling our pieces of the original 1916 Strand Vaudeville floor.
Joe Gaudin is an original member of the Strand Theatre board of directors and has been the owner of the Skyline Drive-In Theater located near Shelbyville since 2009. The Skyline opened in 1950 and has been in continuous operation since. Joe has years of experience as a film and television producer and director as well as being an accomplished cinematographer and music producer/engineer. Joe’s credits include: 6 feature films, 2 television series’, many commercials and clients that include Showtime, Cinemax, Amazon Prime, SyFy and many more. He is a supporter of theatre arts as well as film and music arts and strives to give back by supporting and working with the local community.
McKenna Hall is a local musician that you may have seen at one of her various performances at the Strand Theatre. She also performs at events across central Indiana and in Nashville, Tennessee. McKenna studies commercial music, vocal performance, and songwriting at Belmont University. She is currently the music director of Prismatics, a nationally ranked collegiate a cappella ensemble. McKenna has experience in music and performance education including her role as youth choir director at First Christian Church and dance captain of various show choir and musical theatre productions. McKenna has also done her share of work behind the scenes working as a volunteer sound technician and stage coordinator.
Jodi O’Neill holds a Bachelor’s degree from Ball State University and a Master’s of Science in Management degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. She is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional and is the Director of Communication and Education Compliance with the Indiana Public Retirement System (INPRS). Jodi is a voracious reader, has many creative outlets, and enjoys volunteering, camping, hiking and kayaking.
I have been a volunteer and board member since 2008 we first started. My experience with antique heating and air conditioning equipment made it possible to get the theater up and running and it has been onward and upward from there. I will continue to serve the Strand as long as they will put up with me. I am 86 years old and have no thoughts of slowing down.
Rhonda (Eakins) Schwegman is one of the original members of the Strand Theatre board and was active during the renovation of the theatre. She holds a degree in Business from Ball State University. Rhonda has spent her career in retail management, human resources and marketing /sales. She has been very active in many local non profits in Shelby County. She enjoys painting, drawing, music and being with family in spare time.
Cody is a 2008 SHS graduate and began volunteering at The Strand, becoming a board member in 2007, bringing his experience operating the technology in Breck Auditorium at SHS. Cody works as a Network Reliability Engineer for a national cloud services data center. He keeps much of the behind-the-scenes tech going at the Strand; including sound, lighting, & video control, computers & network, and even hosting this very website. In his free time, he enjoys taking a break from technology for a bit by going camping with his black lab mix, Cooper.
Graduate of Hobart Senior High School, Hobart, Indiana. Graduate of Rose – Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, Indiana. BS in Mechanical Engineering.
Worked as a Field Service Engineer for Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Siemens Industrial Services, Eaton Corporation, and others for much of working career, working on installation, maintenance, and service of industrial and commercial electrical equipment as well as large rotating apparatus. Also was Facilities Electrical Engineer for Indianapolis Casting Corporation, a subsidiary of Navistar, Inc. for approximately 7 years

Outside interests include bicycling, music, and playing trombone as an amateur musician.
